Cultural Responsiveness - Is the utilization of cultures and backgrounds to inform our instructional practices. As educators, we have to check our biases at the door. There are likely many cultures represented within your classroom! The key is to “focus on the roots of culture” as noted by Zaretta Hammond. How do your students view the world? What is their perspective? How does that compare to your view of the world or your perspective? The first step is awareness, but from there, we must plan and design our environment intentionally with culture in mind.
